Is it necessary to rent a car to travel in Portugal?
It depends on your itinerary. In major cities (Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Braga), it is not necessary. To explore regions such as Algarve, Alentejo, Douro or the interior, renting a car offers greater freedom and comfort.
Is Portugal a “walkable” country?
Yes, especially in historic city centres. However, many places have cobbled streets and uneven or inclined ground. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended.
Which typical dishes should I definitely try?
Portugal is known for its diverse gastronomy. Highlights include cod (prepared in many ways), grilled sardines, francesinha (sandwich made with steak, ham and Portuguese sausage, covered with melted cheese and a spicy sauce), seafood rice, piglet da Bairrada, and Portuguese stew. For pastries, try pastéis de nata and the conventual sweets.

Throughout the country. Main wine regions include Douro (Port Wine), Alentejo, Dão, Bairrada, Vinho Verde and Setúbal. Many estates offer wine tastings by appointment.

It is not mandatory, but it is appreciated. It is common to round up the bill or leave between 5% and 10% if the service is good.
