River area and cruise on the Douro river Start your day going down to the river and walk down to Ribeira to see the colourful typical houses, decorated with Portuguese tiles. Cross the D. Luís I bridge to enjoy the views over the river and, if you have the chance, go for a boat ride (the Bridges cruise, for example).
The afternoon in Baixa Walk through the historical centre, from Praça de Lisboa, Clérigos Tower, Lello Irmão bookshop to Rua Santa Catarina. During the afternoon, you can find markets that give life to the streets, namely the Porto Belo market, in Praça Carlos Alberto.
What would you like for dinner? For fish dishes, our guests recommend mainly the restaurants in Matosinhos. But if you prefer the most typical dish of Oporto, the Francesinha (typical sandwich with spicy sauce), we suggest some of the best and most famous places to enjoy it Cufra, Capa Negra or Café Santiago.
Back to Baixa Galerias de Paris or Cândido dos Reis are the most crowded streets in the evening. It is also usual to stay out in the street chatting. To sit down and relax, go to Casa do Livro or Galerias de Paris. If you are in Cedofeita, go to the Rua bar (where every day there's live music).
Spend the morning in Serralves The ticket gives you access to the museum, the park and the house. The park is a must visit, mainly in the spring or autumn. The museum is always displaying temporary exhibitions of contemporary art or of the Foundation's collection.
Walking in Foz and wine tasting in the cellars Go for a walk in Foz, one of the most beautiful places in the city. You also cannot miss a wine tasting in the Port wine cellars, in Gaia, which are usually accompanied with snacks that stimulate the senses (such as cheese, chocolate, etc.).
